Shockingly, one of my front OEM Monroe shocks sprung a leak after 30K miles. I'm going to replace all 4 shocks. The car's set-up with ROW MO30 or MO33 springs...I haven't yet been able to determine which one. I'd like to maintain more of a street 'softer' ride. Is the PSS10 system flexibility (ride & height) worth the cost (my shop is quoting a $700 diff.) or do I simply go w/the Bilstein HDs w/the current springs? Thanks.

I had the same debate for a garage queen - go with the PSS10, you will not regret it!

I have the HD/M030 setup and it's great. But, For $700 more, I'd get PSS10s.

You will get a million opinions and none are right/wrong. I went with Bilstein HDs/M033 because I wanted height adjustability with a good ride for the street. I dont track the 993 at all. I also did walrod bushing at the same time. It rides 100% better than with the monroes and turn-in is crisp.

You may also want to consider the KW V3 coilovers. I have a set and love them. Can be adjusted to a very nice ride if necessary.

the price diff between M030/33+HDs and PSS10s should be quite a bit more than $700... closer to $1K

in any case, if you already have ROW springs, adding HDs would be very cost effective move

That said, PSS10s are a really nice package and offer adjustability (at a price, of course)
As Mark said above, KW V3s are great also. Even more adjustability. Only trouble with KW is availability.

If you have M030 springs then installing HDs might prove to be too harsh, but it really depends on your preference in ride.
It is easy to tell the diffrence between M030 and M033. M030 springs are progressive. The coils will be closer together at one end. M033 springs will be the same coil spacing end to end.

M033+HDs gives a good, all around ride and nice handling performance

If you already own the M033 springs, then by all means just get a set of $900 Koni FSDs from one of the sponsors here (my set from Damon / TireRack arrived recently). Many good reviews of the M033 / FSD combination.

I concur with Mark @ FD's comments regarding costs. I have/had both set ups. I had HD's on my C4S and put PSS on my recent C2S. I don't mind stiff for DD and don't track. Ended up setting my PSS on a firm setting and leaving them which basically is no different that having HD's except for bragging rights.

You will be very happy regardless of which route you take.

Here is a thought. I dropped about another $400-$500 getting the M030 sway set up on my C2S. You already have that so use that savings on going up to PSS.

I went from the Monroes to PSS10's. I also did the Walrod bushings and sways +bushings while I was in there. Very happy with it.

Darin sent me the SSK kit, PSS10's and a full set of textar brake pads which should be arriving tomorrow and luckily today I finally received my RS front and rear swaybar kit from Andraya at sunset. I had placed the order September '11 and they just recently got them in stock. From what I've read it is an excellent combination for the street and of course track. I will be doing the big installation this weekend and will check back in with some feedback.

I'm very very confident that my new suspension is going to be great because my oem Monroe's are 67,000 miles old...hahaha, so yea its time for an overhaul

I'm going through a similar decision making process on my new to me 95' C4. Noticed that, allthough in euro pricing, http://www.carnewal-europe.com/main.htm has some good info, pictures and attractive pricing on individual pieces and packages (go to suspension, then scroll to P93 for 993). The $700 difference your shop quoted you does sound odd, I'd expect it to be more like $1,200, might be worth checking whether getting charged alot for HD's or getting a great deal on PSS10. Mark

You'll also need an alignment after the install. Make sure they have the right equipment to do it properly.
