Hello all! I'm in Tampa, FL and taking possession of a new to me 97 Carrera S 6speed. Been lurking for quite sometime and decided to join today. You guys supply a plethora of information. I've been a BMW guy for the last 10 years and have always wanted a 993. Been searching quite a bit as I want to get 300 whp. Is this possible and if so, what companies should I be looking at and who should I stay away from?
I did say "taking possession" as she will be delivered on 4/30/12. Pretty excited too! Thanks for the info and I look forward to meeting more p-car guys and learning as much as I can.

When you get it, you'd better post pictures or you'll get a whippin'.

Hi,

While I cannot tell you where to go and who to see for that, I can tell you that 300whp takes a substantial budget to achieve that with factory-type durability and I'd plan accordingly.

Its very possible to do this, however the car will not be smog-compliant unless you resort to forced induction (which is a whole 'nuther subject).

Personally, I'd focus on suspension and gearing before doing anything further.

Enjoy the new ride!!!

Congrats on the purchase. You'd better be careful though. I've heard that these cars fall apart after 4-500,000 miles.

Richardew - with the B-E-A-U-T-T-F-U-L Iris Blue MY96 993 cabriolet... 275K original owner miles and counting; that's conviction baby... Luv the original Cup II 17s.... Question: What was the mileage at the 1st top end rebuild? And presumably the new and improved valve guides were fitted - At what mileage was the 2nd top end rebuild?
