Default Seat question? The truth please!

Searched and found some threads about 997 seats fitting in the 993. Found some that stated they would fit and some stated they would not. Now, we found some used 997 non-power seats at a vendor and they say they will not fit a 993.
Does someone know absotively posilutely....one way or the other?

Good Luck!

I am sure some mods would have to be made in track width if nothing else.

I have them in my 993. Don't you remember? Fit perfectly and sit slightly lower (good for me) than the 993 seats.

I purchased them from Shadow993 who had to bend two tabs on the rails. They bolt right in.

It was easy to wire them without modifying the 993 wiring.

Hopefully the pic uploads. Edit: it did upload, and it is huge. I uploaded it from my iphone.

Hi Joanne: Here is a thread from Turboluvr that I used. Extremely comfortable for sure. Just like Patrick's, manual adjustments except for seat back. Height adjustment nice as well....

I have standard seats out of a Cayman in my 993. They are awesome, really give the interior an update and are crisp. The install isn't great, but isn't terrible. I would say its a 5 out of 10, but this depends on how you install. There is a DIY on rennlist which leaves the front stock brackets in place and requires you to do a bunch of cutting and bending etc. Personally, after doing so I was not very comfortable with what was holding the seat to the car. If you just drill holes in the rails this is a very quick mod. I wish I did this first. Wiring is very easy, but you can only wire in the seats with power backs. (no adaptive, etc)

Also, reach out to Napleton Porsche. They run a Cayman race series and are frequently prepping customer's Caymans which result in brand new seats not being needed. My seats were literally never sat in and still had the delivery plastic on them when purchased. Oh, and they were only $400.

Good luck

Jim, those look great! I have not installed my fire exstinguisher yet. Do you find it to be in the way?

See you in CO!

The install is the same as the 996 seat. You just have to make sure the seat you buy are manual slide and raise with power tilt. https://rennlist.com/forums/993-foru...stall-diy.html

I've done it twice... The hardest part is getting the old seats out! You do not have to remove the spring...just place a few pieces of wood under the loaded side and use you weight to adjust.

FVD sells a kit to make it simple.....

.....only then carrying a 6-pack....seriously, no interference what so ever. even offset to allow accessto the seat adjustment lever.
