I have stock NB 993 with original springs and monroes. 99% street driven. I am trying to figure the most cost effective way to upgrade, and slightly lower the car.

Koni has a sale on till the end of May. Their FSD struts are on for $922 a set from Paragon with free shipping in the US.
Springs can be sourced from Sunset Porsche or other discount dealer of your choice.

Call FD Motorsports or Rennsport Systems, both sponsors, they've got the Bilsteins. I went with the HD's and ROW MO33's, which will be closer to the spring rate on your car now, but allow lowering. The Bilsteins allow for a good corner balance too, and height adjustement, with the threaded collars.

Another vote for the RoW M030 Bilstein HD set up. allows lowering by the adjustable collars.
Ride quality is quite subjective, some people do not like the harshness of the HDs, I happen to think it is great. Suggest you ride/drive some different combinations to see what you like best.
I am also using 18" wheels at 36/40 tire pressure (some also like 36/38). Ride was quite a bit softer before when I had 17" Cup IIs.
Costs more but the PSS10 would allow adjustability.
+1 on Ed's comment regarding Corner Balance, I had the car done last Fall. It wasn't bad before, but the CB and walrod bushings made another leap. LOVE the handling now.

Or, buy from one of our American sponsors that post on this board, as well as take advantage of the US warranty with no questions, if needed. Nothing against Gert, mind you.

If you go that route, figure in the ''DUTY FEE'' on top of shipping. My last two purchase's was followed by a bill from Fed Ex, they pay it upfront and pass it on.

The Bilsteins can be rough on broken roads. You can go with the Koni FSD shocks and buy the springs for cheaper than the Bilsteins...
Paragon for shocks which are on sale and get the springs from Sunset, should come out to less than $1500.00.

You might try and find Euro M033 springs. Keeps the spring rate the same as the stock springs, so they are supposed to be a little more comfortable, with a lowered ride height.

Everything depends on where you drive and how you will use your car. If dual use street and track and your roads are perfect, HD / M030. If they are anything like my CT roads and perhaps if your 993 is "street only" as mine is, then Koni FSD / M033. I think my total cost for M033/FSD was $1250 delivered from Suncoast / Tire Rack.
