Default new clutch

Should it be expected that the TOB be replaced as part of a clutch replacement? Just had clutch replaced along with a laundry list of stuff. Within 20 miles i now have grinding sound when pedal fully depressed. Based on Renn search it sounds as if it may be the TOB. Thoughts?

Yes. TOB is part of any standard clutch package. The fact that you have grinding right after the clutch replacement sounds like the new TOB (assuming it WAS replaced) is bad, or they got something else screwed up in there.

I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad throwout; but obviously, they messed something up. Looks like the shop's going to have to do some more work on it, unfortunately. Sorry to hear of your issues. Does it grind when you partially disengage the clutch, or only when you fully depress the pedal?

Bill,
Sorry to hear. I presume they are doing a tranny drop only (to preserve your alignment)?

i need to verify that Andreas. interestingly, i now notice a vibration at higher speeds i didn't have before the work was done (80mph+). i thought they dropped tranny but now i'm unsure - will ask monday.

Mark - the grinding only happens when the clutch pedal is fully depressed and only the final inch or so.
