It may be possible his values are a combination of enthusiasts and "normal" owners. I have heard of a few mint 993's being sold for a steal, mad to miss them!
This is precisely what I am talking about...

1. Far better realtionship with this important Porsche AND READER community, and
2. Far better and more valid freakin' info for the mag.

Wouldn't take much--seems as if we're ready. What say you??
A good idea, in my view, but the internets haven't exactly fostered a welcoming environment. Not that I view that as their problem, but...

It would indeed be another good input, but it would be an input for all the reasons discussed above. Still...

At the time, he said a '98 C2S EC was worth $35k when the average list price on Autotrader was $57k.

It's amazing that Excellence continues to publish such stupidity, especially since it's so financially damaging to Porsche owners.
And it's precisely these kind of inflammatory remarks (bold mine) that don't help — even if I understand the reason/frustration behind them. And I've seen far worse. When we get into insults or insulting language, we lose the opportunity to grow from well-intentioned and intelligent criticism.

It's great to hear you guys are willing to change with the times. The internet has completely changed the automotive marketplace, and it doesn't seem necessary to have the value guide in the book. Rather than spend the time, effort, and frustration modifying and defending it, I like your choice to head in a different direction.

It's a great magazine... about time for me to get my subscription going again after it lapsed several years ago. I've been moving at least once/yr the past 6-7 years, so I've tried to avoid subscribing to periodicals. I probably spend more money buying it at B&N than I would subscribing. Keep up the good work.

Excellent response Pete.

And the 200th issue was incredible, keep up the good work.

People tell me I have issues, I tell them "yes I probably have that issue". This was last year while rearranging in my basement, the shrine has grown quite a bit since then.

I used to get a bunch of monthly and weekly rags, but I am down to just one - Excellence. Keep up the great work.

Pete,

Your willing to step into the fray of 993 valuation shows that you are trying to make it right.

Thanks for that.
I understand that valuation is a moving target but there needs to be more reality, weather it is reader reports or auction results. When SCM valuations, differ from Bruce's values the process needs to be revamped. I feel that a Marque Magazine should be a better source of information rather than a group who traditionally has downplayed the collectability of Porsches. As the Marketplace shows Porsches are collectable. Just ask anyone who is shopping for a 993.

One thing I have learned about Rennlist, they can and do help with Porsche issues and advice. And they are spot on.

I cannot wait for the improved results.

May I also add that an digital (iPad or Zinio) subscription of the Mag would be a desired option.

ZOMG THE INTARWEB HAS INFLAMMATORY POSTS!!! If you can't cope with that reality, you best turn your computer off.

And yup, 1998 C2S five years ago for $35k is stupidity, plain and simple. It's a bad mark on an otherwise great magazine. The price listings are actually interesting, and I suspect the vast majority of us would rather you fixed the numbers instead of eliminating the column. Just my 2c.

p.s. "2c" means "two cents" since you obviously don't understand the internet.

I think "going in another direction" means they're eliminating it, not improving it.
