Yessir, that sums it up quite nicely.

Someone went to a lot of trouble to remove the RSR intake's six throttles and replace it with a single throttle, ala 993 Cup.

The carbon "trumpet" is a restrictor, as specified by their rules.

The exhaust used on the ebay motor is a Cargraphic aftermarket piece

there were different exhausts used depending on the series

here's 1 version, almost looks stock, but the insides of the ex-cat bannana are much modified

And here's another

A 3rd looks like th 2nd but is piped to the stock mufffler outlets in the bumper

Tnx Bill, now I recall the RSR exhaust.

Steve, I was looking for the throttle body but I couldnt find it. I thought they were using slide throttle bodies. But couldnt find it too.

The restrictor explains why other RSR's dont have it. They just have a screen in the manifold.

Here's the RSR t/b's, 6x low butterfly topped by a resonance manifold

Bill, looks like the ebay engine has the short ITBs painted in red.

They're just painted, you can see the throttle linage in the rear shot

Not exactly sure until I break down the engine, I am 99.9% sure they are piston rings pieces.

The strange thing is, the car was running well, not using any oil or blowing smoke, so not sure how this would happen and still be running fine.

As was a Euro 3.0 I had in my SC way back when. Drove it all the way back from WA not suspecting a thing. But I know I did my damage at the track in Kent on a pretty hot summer evening.
