Default Is a 993 convertible loud on the highway?

Just wondering, I am still finishing up my project. With the top up, is a 993 convertible loud? As in, wind noise , passing big trucks , cant hear the stereo ect...

From the looks of it they are not insulated AT ALL.

Thanks

I drove one last year. Not bad at all but that's so subjective though. Now with Super Cups, then yes very loud

As long as the rubber seals are in good condition and the hood its adjusted correctly and everything fits and seals as it should,i don't find it any noisier than a coupe

I would agree, cab is just slightly louder than a coupe. The Speedster, however is a bit louder because of the unlined top and the way the top just overlaps onto the clamshell in the back ... but on a smooth freeway, it's hardly noticeable.

+1

When I read " Is a 993 convertible loud on the highway?" my first thought was, "It is when I downshift..."
But I have my SuperCups to thank for that.

With stock mufflers, and the top up, I could hear more engine sounds (sounded to me like a very large wind-up toy).

it's not as bad as you'd think. 993 top is much better than other cab's i've been in.

Mine has quite a bit of wind noise. I guess I need to adjust my top.

I think it depends on what you consider loud and compared to what. I had a vintage MB and my 993 is so much quieter. I also accept some of the noise as I knew buying a cab would be louder that a coupe. All in all, my personally opinion is the option of having the top down far offsets the small amount of the noise when it's up.

Last Wednesday I had a 500km-trip with my Speedster, speed between 160 and 290km/h. After arrival was was not able for about one hour to talk to anyone.

But the Speedster is louder than a normal convertible, my car has a special exhaust and it was a very fast trip...

Thank you for all the reply's. So, from what I read here, if the top and seals are in good condition, it should be just a bit louder than a coupe. I would be very happy with that but I guess I will find out soon.

Mark,

I see you painted your car in GT silver. Do you have any other pictures of your car you wouldn't mind sharing. I have been driving myself nuts trying to decide on a colour for my repaint. I think I settled on the new porsche silver on the new 911 "Platinum silver".
