Default Windshield squeak/rope

I got this 3M Windo-Weld stuff and can't get it into the crack under the weather strip. This stuff is unbelievably sticky. If I use a knife to poke it in there it just comes right back out on the knife. Is the real Porsche rope this sticky? Should I try to pull off the weather strip completely then put the rope in then put the weather strip back? It feels like it's glued on there

That doesn't look like rope?

And from what I understand, the Porsche "rope" has no adhesive properties; it just pushes into place using a dull edge of some object.

The Porsche rope is just a round piece of rubber with no adhesive. You can find it on Pelican Parts. It is a 996 part number. Around $30. I don't think that 3M stuff will work as well. You don't want to take the weather seal off. You should be able to lift it up and push it in with a popsicle stick or something that won't scratch the paint. Insert it on the body side of the molding, not on the glass side.

That 3m stuff you have is for sealing windscreens in.not for what you need...old Volvo's used to use it and 126 body/201 mercs & a few jap cars...keep it as you will find a use for it one day..

Any of you guys tried Pedro's Ice Wax for the squeeky windscreen?

It was recomended to me a few years ago and it cured the problem straight away. Comes as liquid or aerosol and you just squirt it under the windscreen rubber all round, wipe off the excess and squeek disappears.

Worked really well for me.
