Hi all
I crashed my ery cherished track prepared 993 last year at Monza. Engine, a non VR 993 ROW, and gearbox (shorter main drive) survived.
I have a US Spec 1997 vario ram 993, and thinking of swaping the engine (and gearbox). If someone has clear ideas on the following, it would be helpful :
-Can I keep the wiring of the VRAM, and match it with the harness of the Non VRAM engine, just not connecting the VRAM pin and disabling the Alarm?
-Can I keep my 1994 ECU (ROW) or should I transplant the 97 ECU and reprogram that (which is difficult)?
Many thanks
Vartan

The change from non v-ram to v-ram or back is easy as long as you have a 55pin OBD1 DME
the 55pin DME's were used on all RoW 993 n/a cars and on US '95 993
to install V-rm on a non vram car
pin#32, yellow/white has to connect to the resonator(which used to be DME pin#1)
DME pin #1(which used to be the resonance flap) grey/white connects to the vram actuators.
all the actuators need the 12v red/white to work
and of course a chip for a RoW vram

Thanks bill.
That means that I need to take the RoW harness to replace the one in the US spec car. right? My hope was not to dismount the harness in place on the US spec car.
A pic of the original car on its final day....

No one hurt, except self esteem and the purse! the cage and belts did the job. I owned for 10 years....had just got the revised ratios and carbon hood the week before as the final touch. It was a blast, 305 hp on the dyno (hydraulic lifters on it still, but lowered head, larger throttle body, polished intake, rs cams, LW Fly Wheel, RS engine mounts, etc) and light (no sound deadening, lightweight back and side windows, hood, rear seat delete, radio delete, aircon delete, etc), rs roll bars, pss9s....
I got a 993TT as a replacement, high mileage but rebuilt engine by Sportec, and have transferred most of the parts I saved from the c2 and did the lightweight treatment all over....not tracked with it yet though.
I see you have the side wings in front...any good?

Glad no one was injured and that you were able to get a new car.
The winglets are long gone. They were actually a bit winder than I would have preferred (thought the winglets added too much drag), but I needed something to balance out the modified 3.8 RS wing/spoiler. I sold the winglets and have been using RS splitters for the past four years.

Motor "finished" about 6 weeks ago. Very few parts salvageable. Nuts, bolts, a few pistons, and cams, etc. New heads, rods, valves, case, rockers, oil pump, etc.... Back dating complete with new '95 Wiring harness, ECU, and intake. Charlie at Intersport did a phenomenal Job. I was adamant that is was 100% PCA stock prepared legal. He even showed me the heads when done to show me no porting or polishing (not like I'd know the difference.) He took everything to tolerances and built a real strong motor. 289hp at the wheel (Dynojet)!
Took the car to the Watkins Glen club race, but car went into limp mode (Rev limiter came on at 5800 RPM). Behe sent a new chip next morning but didnt work. Packed up and went home after one practice session...SUCKED/PISSED! Dyno shop spent about 40hrs working on it. Turns out software they use couldnt write correctly to the ECU (although it was supposed to). Intersport got me another ECU (without the immobilzer) and it programmed perfectly. Taking the car to Summit Point this weekend for trial runs.
