Default speaking of brake rotors....

after replacing the front rotors, I went out for some light bedding and noticed the initial wear pattern showed the pads polishing only the inner and outer edges of the rotor. I didn't change the pads because it wasn't necessary. Any thoughts on the initial wear pattern? I expect the pads will become better bedded (mo' bedder?) with more frequent and aggressive braking, but I'm curious if anyone has noticed this as well.

The old pads do not have an even surface. it will bed in with some more hard braking. do not worry.

thanks....just thought it odd to have the initial wear on the edges of the rotor.

What rotors and pads are you using? I am preparing to do pads and rotors and am interested.

I found that after all the mucking around it was easier to just use OEM parts.
Maybe it's different for you guys with all the choices you have though.
I installed new pads as well just to make sure everything was sweet.

this is normal...and I have been told you should bed in new rotors with old pads...or vice versa...but not do both at the same time.

I sand my pads before putting them on fresh rotors.

I use OEM rotors and pads. Probably should have done something to the pads, but didn't take the time. I know the pads will eventually get fully bedded, just curious if anyone else had noticed a similar wear pattern. no worries here.

thx

Marc
