Default Immobilizing the Immobilizer

I find the immobilizer to be very annoying in my 1997 C2 cab. As I am sure everyone here knows if you leave the car unlocked for a period of time you can't start the engine unless you either lock and unlock the car or half turn the key and press the key fob button. Anyone know a fix?

Tom,

The 97-98 computers can be reprogrammed to delete the immobilizer control signal. You also must bypass a relay in the fuse box area to gain the starter relay back. Not a cheap option, but it does work. There are several threads on this you can research.

Why not post the solution here, if there is another one besides Bill's how-to?

Steve reflashes the ECU. I believe his post is more diplomatic than saying "Hey, for a 'couple' bucks I can fix that for you"...even though he is a sponsor and would be entitled to doing so

If that is the case, it clears up any possibility of another solution different from Bill's.

Yeah, unfortunately I think Bill's solution is only for MY95 cars. I think given how long this has been a debated feature, all the potential solutions have been explored and exhausted
