Scissor Lifts and ROW 993 Height
I've been researching scissor lifts since my garage height has me limited . I currently have a US Spec 993 but will be going with Darin's ROW MO33 Bilstein HD package later this year so the car will be lowered. From what I have read, most guys have made "side ramps" out of 2 x 12 lumber to utilize scissor lifts, others have cut in pits and dropped the lift into it. Is anyone with a ROW height 993 using a scissor lift without either of these modifications? Thanks......Mark.

I built ramps for mine and I have the M033 set up. My lift is 7" including pads. 5" with the pads removed. It's easier for me to drive on the ramps than worry about centering the lift and then sliding on the pads when I need to use it.

Here's what i need to get mine up RSR height 104mm/93mm
buffers, the 4 aluminum pucks lock into the 4 lifting points on the 993 chassis, these make the lift much easier to setup, I usually use ~.4" of additional wooden shims. For my 911 I just use the 4 rubber pillows
For clean work I leave the carpet, but for oil/trans fluid changes I roll it up, you will want to put metal buffers between the rollers and pivot point and the concrete, also you will want a vapor barrier at least under the ramps, the permanent ramps cannot be taller than this because the arms have to be able to pivot out
All the aluminium bits are scrap from a boat building business I'm involved w/ the total ht. of the ramps is 2.5". 1.5" for the PT 2x12 underlayment and 1" for the aluminum deck extrusion. The fairleads are stepped 1/2" pltwood w/ scrap door molding for filler, the 2' side extensions make working on it easier but are not necessary
my car is so low that I need 1" removable pieces at least under the wheels, I use 3/4" ply for filler(the white pieces). And under the front wheels I need to double up w/ 1" + 3/4", the white ply is removed to swing the arms into place
