so long to do this...

They both arrived this week. They're both the same color and are an easy to keep clean color. From the moment these first came out I wanted them. The rubber on these 993's looks like they'll last a long time and I'm sure they'll go really fast. I took them out today for a spin and was amazed what a difference the experience was compared to my previous model.

What a great feeling it is to own a pair of 993's - something I've been thinking about doing for a long time.

Don't wait - life is short. If you're a lurker on here and have been thinking about buying a pair of 993's, go for it. I'll try to post a picture of them soon as I'm sure there will be some general interest in seeing them together in one pic...

Cheers,
Steve R

Nice!
I considered a pair of 993s. You should come down to Daytona and try them out on the banking at the 7am sat race. I will be running either my brooks or my Nike!

Ran a 10K 40 some years ago at Daytona before the 24. We ran on the apron- you can't even walk up the banking let alone run on it. Hope your weather cooperates!

Thanks. The grey on grey really suits me. I was thinking of going black on the interior, but after reading through Polman's long post - "I'm Going Black", I decided to leave well enough alone. Too much work and I'm not that talented to pull something like that off.

Not sure yet. I'm going to try them in stock form for a while. Thinking about upgrading to this model one day though. Always liked Guards Red.

Releasing in 1991 Hatfield’s VI design was created based on the look of the Porsche 911, one of Michael Jordan’s cars at that time. The most telling piece of the shoe became the pronounced, black and red plastic heel tab on the VI that was created in the essence of the 911′s over sized spoiler. Chris Hui of C2 Customs‘ goal on this pair of Air Jordan VIs was to further develop the original inspiration and transform the shoe to embody the look of a Porsche as close as possible.

C2 started out using a youth sized white/varsity red/black Air Jordan VI retro as his base shoe, seen below to understand the amount of changes made. After prepping the shoes properly, change number one was painting all white parts Porsche’s official “Guards Red”, complete with that auto body like shine using a waxed gloss finish. Second the white neoprene tongues were dyed tan to match the rich tan leather interiors. A third subtle detail included painting of the Air Max cavity walls a bright maize to represent the signature Brembo brakes and calipers of the 911s. To add more of that official Porsche look, the placement of emblems on the toe and heels a la hood and trunk was painted with gold and black. The front being a small C and 2, while the back mimics the Porsche coat of arms using the stitched Jumpman logo as its centerpiece. Now that is where many customizers would stop and call it done.

The details are what C2 is all about though, as his toughest task was drilling four holes and filling them with hand cut metal to create the look of the Porsche 911′s quad exhaust. Luckily C2 is patient enough to not have mis-drilled the holes considering he probably did that step first and could have easily ruined this pair of Jordans and the entire project. There is no way to imagine how hyped these Porsche Air Jordan VI would be if they were an official Air Jordan release.

Speaking to the shoelace reply - I had thought about these as a wild and crazy mod upgrade but I'd have to save for a while to afford them.

"A designer known as "Mr. Kennedy" has created $19,000 shoelaces made of 24-carat gold, the "Today" show reports. Just what you needed, right? Shoelaces are so boring and my gut is that people who have a love of the 'practical made special' will buy them," Colin Hart, creator of Mr. Kennedy, told "Today." People who have a special love for being impractical, that is. The shoelaces -- said to be the world's first-ever precious gold laces -- are created using "ancient, artisan jewelry techniques." Each set is handmade by Colombian workers and takes 120 hours to produce, and the finished product is delivered by a security detail and "laced for you anywhere in the world." Believe it or not, Hart has already sold a pair to "someone in the rap industry." Can't afford to pay $19,000 to have some guy tie your shoes for you? Try Mr. Kennedy's silver laces, which can be yours for just $3,000. Or, the "Today" show suggest spending a few bucks and spray painting your laces gold or silver. OR, you could just stick with the perfectly good laces you already have, which is what we plan to do."

In the end, I probably should have gone with this model.

Though they look hot in this color as well

as it reminds me of this car:

The 996 model got wider heavier and not as good looking. The laces do not feel as sharp and the handling on the road is isolated. The sole would leak from the sms (shoe main seal).
Good choice on the 993 model!
