LOOKS OUT OF PLACE TO ME, DON'T CARE FOR IT...HOW MANY PEOPLE OUT THERE IN THE REAL WORLD KNOW WHAT YOU ARE TRYING TO DO. I WOULD GO BACK TO THE CF...JUST MY $.02.

That **** is quite nice on itself, but it does not fit that well in the rest of the interior imho. I can imagine that it feels better than the factory one!

I bet it feels a lot better as well-but from a visual standpoint, it looks way out of place.

On a related note, which shift boot did you end up using?

It's sacrilege to say this, but I don't think it looks right even in a 917, although I do appreciate the look of it as a milled and laminated piece of wood.

Your car, your money, your decision.

Or this:

Or this:

Or even this (yes, I take full responsibility for the Sunday **** ****):

For the 917, I like the black one with the numbers best of all, Mike, and maybe the silver one second. For a street car, the original leather one works great for me. Hell, I haven't even changed it in my race car.

Mark, I've been running this **** in a Miata for the last 8 years and love it to death. Still scheming to make them for P-cars.

I like it so much better in a Miata than everything I've tried in a 993 (stock ****, stock wood ****, currently a 2S ****) that there's no comparison in my mind. Seriously. Maybe try it in your Miata as it's a simple screw-on with no modifications. I think you'll like it as much as I do. About half of our local crowd uses them, I think. They are available in wood as well.

Do they have this in a bright yellow smiley face? (seriously)

Are you referring to the black **** with the shift pattern?

Any of them, Mark. They are Voodoo ***** now sold by this gentleman: http://www.knobmeister.com/page14.ph...age&category=1

I have a black piano finish one with shift pattern and Miata written on it, I believe. They have two sizes, i have the smaller one as it fits in my hand better. I might go for larger (magnum) in a 993 if I can ever get this project completed.

As an aside - as much as I dislike touching aluminum surfaces in a car, these are not getting too hot in the sun. Now, the uncoated aluminum one in my old MR2... third degree burns every single time. So I think proper coating is really important.
