I just dont understand why its hard for some people to realize what the problem is. Do Chris Walrod or GT3Tek or FD Motorsports use Rennlist to sell products... yes. Are they paying sponors... yes.

I know I don't have much standing here on this board, but.....here's my $0.02.

I'm in the market for a 993 and I just won't buy from Deadhead1960. I'm sure it's naive, but if folks just stop buying and selling cars and parts from/to him, then hopefully, he will have to move elsewhere.

That is a great post, Ryan. Even more telling is how few people ever have problems with Chris, Joel and Mark/Darin (and Steve Weiner, etc.) and how little controversy surrounds these vendors/members. This has a direct relation to the high level of integrity in which they conduct their businesses and the trust that is subsequently created.

It's really just that simple.

It's not naive it all; it smacks of common sense to me.

Honesty is always the best policy. Especially if you want to be in business for the long run.

Maybe someone can search New Jersey DMV to find out if a certain number of transactions per year or some other criteria constitutes a "dealer" in that state? In that case, a business sponsorship (like Damon at Tire Rack, for example) might provide some transparency.

Although if he doesn't meet the state's dealer criteria (or have a license) then he may qualify as a curbstoner, or illegal dealer, which is frowned upon in most states.

Well I certainly hope he's reviewed the IRS regulation(s) regarding his activities as they relate to a hobby versus a for-profit business. I would.

All that I can add to this is that I have bought items from 5 or six members on this board, as well as 2 of the site's sponsors, GT3TEK and FD Motorsports. Each transaction has been virtually effortless, because in each case the individual involved was honest and straightforward. Those (very) few individuals who show a tendency for dishonesty or worse should and will be outed to the Rennlist community. Its that simple.

"Did you know that all states make it a misdemeanor crime to buy and sell cars without a dealer license? States regulate this by putting a strict limit on how many cars you can sell per year as a private party."

Hey guys. Enough already. This is worse than a fraternaty house gang bang. We are all a bit older, and hopefully smarter, so lets move on.

MODERATORs - Time to take whatever action(s) you believe are appropriate within the governance and rules of Rennlist.
