If the alternator belt breaks, you'll know it right away.
If the roller sensor was removed and the fan belt breaks, you may run for a while without the cylinders getting the much wanted air; not good.

The best solution to this problem is the RS hub. No belt sensor, no lack of warning if the belt breaks.
