993 Turbo acting up, stalling, not starting
I've been a long time reader, but finally registered as i am in need of some help. I have a 1997 993 Turbo with only 30,000 miles on it, have owned it for about 10 years and have had no problems with it, until the other day.
I went to the local cars and coffee, and it refused to start, would turn over, but would not fire up. I decided to leave it for 2 hours and walk around the show, when I returned, it fired right up. it would run for about 15 mins and then die, luckily my shop was about a mile down the road.I put a fuel pressure tester on it and watched the fuel pressure drop from normal to zero when it died, it had a check engine light for random missfire and cylinder 4,5,6 missfire. so i replaced the fuel pump.
Well i went out and took it for a test drive last night, and it died on me while going down the road. Got on the freeway on ramp and no throttle response, but then all the sudden it "kicked" back on, but only lasted about a mile when it finally died. once again, left it for a bit and it started back up!
My question is, does this sound like a DME relay failure? I pulled the cover off and found no cold solder breaks, or anything out of the normal. i do have the 944 # relay on it.

at this point I'd bet on a weak DME relay solder joint
as already said, I would replace the relay (or resolder if you choose)
A RLer has documented this in great detail here : https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=35947
Regardless, I would defintely carry a spare

Thanks for all the replies, I'm going to pick a DME relay from the dealer this week, but i also re-soldered the joints on my current one just a few minutes ago. Going to put it in the car in a few and see if she decides to run!

Thought id update this and let you know that it is fixed! haven't had much time to drive it with all of these sporadic rain showers in Houston, but i did manage to get it out last weekend for a little bit and it felt fine!
Now, by popular demand, pics!

Curious, what was wrong with you car?
