What are the main differences from 95-98?

Correct me if I'm worn, wasn't there a steering rack brace that could be added to the '95's to update them to '96 - '98? I think this allowed 18" wheels to be installed on '95's

- no basket handle
- OBD II connector although it is an OBD I system
I don't know about the revised rear suspension and the engine compartment harness recall; how can I tell?

For the rear suspension, part numbers. I think the different numbers might be in the PET?

Sorry, I don't have that breakdown, but I have always assumed that the Coupes listed were all widebody cars, either C4S or CS but that could be a bad assumption .. I think Porsche just produced whatever body's they had left on the line and I've heard people on here say they saw 993's being built right along side the new 996's and that continued until the factory ran out of 'white body's' ...

In relation to the initial posters question, I am sure a lot of this detail is interesting. Just have to wonder how useful it really is for a novice 993 buyer in choosing between a 95 vs. a later car. Note, he specifically was asking about C2's, not 98 S cars, so we are really talking 95 vs. 96/97.
I for one would focus on the few fundamental differences between these iterations in making a decision. Sometimes too much info can be confusing and cloud what's really importaint. Suspension, Vram, OBDII are the biggies (to me).
Just a thought.
PS - I wouldn't hesitate to own any of a 95/96/97 model.
Best,
Matt

I also wouldn't touch an OBD2 car because of the issues wrt smog inspections, it depends on where you live of course. vram is sort of nice for a street car as it does improve midrange torque, but at the top not so much, The hp came from bigger valves and ports

I owned a 95 for 10 years, one of the greatest cars we've ever owned. Had 198k miles on it when we sold it this past fall to a new Rennlister.... If I were buying another 993, I would buy a 95 again. No SAI issues, no drive block, no immobilizer to go bad....and you can easily 'chip' it to get the more hp that the later cars have.

Thanks guys. All good info. I know most of differences are not enough to make me pass up one year for another. I am looking for a 95-97 C2 coupe 6 speed, either black or white for under $35K that is in good condition. If anyone has any leads let me know.
