Strange smell after clutch Job...
Had the clutch replaced 2 months ago and ever since I have noticed a strong oil burning kind of smell from the AC/Heat when the car starts up. After a few minutes it goes away, but I notice it again when I restart, even if the engine is warm. Any ideas? Is it possible something was not clamped down tight enough wen it all went back together? I had no smell before the clutch change... this is my only car I DON'T work on, so have no idea what is in the area that could be causing the smell to get into the ventilation system.
Thanks in advance for your inputs!

Since you don't work on this car, it's time to take it back to the guys who did the clutch and caused the issue. It sounds (smells?) like some of the heater tubes aren't sealed up properly.
Of course you could jack her up and get under there and look around a bit to get familiar with her. If you can work on the rest of those cars, nothing says you can't learn the 993. I started my wrenching on a 1976 914 2.0L many years ago...

This may be a different thing... but when I had my clutch replaced, it smelled like rotten eggs or something. I told my mechanic and he took off a yellow cap in the engine compartment (a vent of some sort ... the cap is supposed to stop water from getting into the clutch... a few years ago, so I'm fuzzy on the details)
He took it off, smell went away, have had no problem with water ... life is grand!

I don't know why a strong smell would be there only when you start up unless there is an oil leak that accumulates while the car is sitting and then burns off. Let it sit for a while and look for oil accumulating on the heat exchangers.

if my memory is still reliable, there is not one yellow cap in an entire 993
