Silly question: does anyone know how to remove the front windshield wiper arm?

Not just the bladed section, but the entire arm. On the last track day, I saw a car with both of its wiper arms remove. Anyone know how I can take them off? Do you literally just yank it off the circular mounting point or is there a hidden screw?

You yank off a plastic cache.
Opposite the blade, hold the plastic cover over the mounting point, and pull up slowly. Under the cache, there is a 10mm nut. Remove the nut whilst wipers are open (not on windshield).
On windshield, they are armed with the springs.

And even with the nut removed and the wiper off the windshield, you might find the arm still immovable. This is due to the cone shaped nature of the mating surface...the arms tend to wedge themselves on if they are like any other car that I had to remove the wiper arms on.
You need to gently fold the arm back and forth till it lets go.

Great, thx for all the responses. Funny how I never noticed there was a plastic cap. I thought it was all one metal piece. I'll give it a try this weekend.
By chance, any clever ideas on how to remove the nipple (the rotating mechanism) once the wiper arm comes off?

I don't think you want to remove the "nipple". It is the splined shaft of the wiper drive mechanism, and not removable from the outside. You might find a suitable black plastic cap at your local hardware store to fit over the shafts, if you want to have a neater look with the wipers off.

If the plastic caps are original, they will probably be very brittle and fall apart when you touch them. Ask me how I know... Replacements are readily available and fairly inexpensive.
