Great post Leon. I'll never forget being a penniless student at the University of Toronto hanging out at Downtown fine motors on Avenue Road watching every year of the new releases in the 993 series. I knew then what I know now....this is a special car.

Right on Leon!
I put mine up for winter storage last night. Now I am relegated to going into the dark garage and holding the cold steering wheel...not so bad, really. Good right up.

He, nice post. On the kids pointing issue - I was in a shared garage yesterday (detailing my brand new to me 993), when a kid around five years old and his mom pulled up and parked next to me. The kid's dad came down to help them carry up the shopping, but as they were going upstairs the kid just did not want to go, he just kept pointing at the car and expressed what I would almost thing was a genetic predisposition to like the illustrious shape of the 993. His dad ended up almost apologizing, for which there was absolutely no need. I remember when I was a kid back in the early 80's, my friend Tom and I would walk - almost to the margins of where we were allowed to venture off to from home - to just look at this white SC parked on the street near our house. We would go look at it at least a couple of times a week, and this allure stays with you, I think.

Like the Harley guys say:
If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand
I guess it's a 993 thing
The emotions this car brings out are universal yet every individual owner adds a personal note of appreciation to the storybook
That's how automotive legends come to exist, by evoking the kind of passion we all share

An ultimate rendition of a prized automotive brand that achieves iconic status would constitute automotive legend
As such the 993 epitomizes the air cooled 911 as the ultimate and final masterstroke
