Just wondering how much more difficult a G50 regear when compared with a 901 and 915 gearbox rebuild?
My friend and I have rebuilt these early boxes, including the synchros, spyders, etc.
My G50 is from and early 95. I would like to replace 2nd through 5th. No LSD.
There seems to be a lot more parts with the G50 with more springs and small *****.
Any feeback appreciated.

I have done a few G50's and G64's. In theory they are similar to most gbx's -- a few special tools needed but nothing outrageous.
The 1st gear syncro is a bit tricky to get the op sleeve over the detents and ***** etc., 3-4 and 5-6 similar but a little easier.
Here are are few images from a G64 re-do: http://s243.photobucket.com/albums/f...cpZZ1QQtppZZ24

Marty Mehterian, Chief Driving Instructor for the Porsche Owners Club, is rebuilding and re-gearing trannies in the San Fernando Valley. If you want his e-mail, PM me. His prices are very reasonable.

Yes, I know gear sets are pricey. Last time I checked about a year ago, it was about $900/set. Changing 4 sets and while you are in there parts will add up, no doubt. But this is my LAST Porsche
