Default Making power with a 993 engine?

I'm thinking of doing a 917 with a 993 engine ... is it possible to make 500-600hp, n/a, out of a 993 engine? Alternatively, if that was the power goal, is there a more appropriate n/a, air-cooled engine one could use without breaking the bank (e.g., later year gt2/3/etc.. ... I'm very unfamiliar with porsche engines so I ahve no idea what is air cooled and what isn't)

500-600hp in a N/A air cooled (or water cooled, for that matter) 911 motor is a pipe dream. Porsche has done it in a street car exactly once, in the 2012 GT3 RS 4.0 - and I doubt you have the engineering capabilities on hand the factory does. Since you aren't putting a flat-12 in your replica, and exact duplication is obviously not that important, why not use a GM LSx series motor?

For a project like this; the only logical thing to do is Mig weld the fly wheel to the alternator pully of motor #2. EASY 750 HP. and solves the 12 slug issue.

I would have to agree with Chase, just slap on a GM small block and call it a day. With all due respect, it's not prudent to waste a 993 engine on a kit car. I'm sorry, but I tell it like it is.

I heard welding to the crank-pulley of motor #2 creates vibrations, definitely alternator pulley...

Stack two 993 engines on top of each other and connect the flywheels with a serpentine belt. Problem solved.

Also, the 993 is water-cooled. Air-cooling didn't start until the 996 model in 1999.

Why not a 993 Turbo engine? You can get to 500 HP there. 600 is a little harder.

A 917 kit car with that turbo motor would be great. Even a n/a motor would be fun. What's your target weight, 2000 lbs?
