Default Kid:"Mommy, I wuv this car". Mom: "Don't touch the car". Kid:"But mommy, I REALLY WUV

this car!". Kid practically shouts it.

Kid touches 993 as he walks by it, rubbing his fingers along the entire length of the sides of it gently, just the fingertips, as if not to hurt it, as I leave the gym and catch this conversation enfolding right in front of me. I smile, nod and get in the car. Kid and mom turn around and look at me and it in awe.

I laugh once inside it and drive off... Priceless moment in 993 ownership.

Kids, they have really good taste sometimes.

Yes, yes, yes.

Distill the metaconcept of "sports car" down, and you get "911". Distill that down further, and you get "993".

You didn't offer to let them sit in it?

Sorry but that is a big FAIL!

It honestly happened so fast I didn't even get the opportunity. I was parked near the front to the gym and they just walked right in after it happened.

Didn't get a good look at the mom. Was too worried what they kid was doing touching my car that I had a momentary worried moment that quickly passed when I realized all was well. By then, they were inside. It was fairly dark, too.

Several years ago, I drove my Beck Spyder to the local WalMart. As I was parking, this little guy, maybe 5-6 years old, started dragging his mom across the parking lot screaming, "Mom! Mom! It's a Spyder!"

As I got out, he just circled the car saying, "Oh, man! Oh, Man! It's a Spyder, Mom!"

I asked if he wanted to sit in it and he almost passed out with excitement.

He turned to his Mom and said, "Here Mom, hold these" and handed her a couple of toy cars he had in his fists.

He climbed in and I put the retro WWII aircraft-styled seat belt on him and he was just sat there holding the steering wheel, fiddling with the gear shift and grinning until his mom made him get out.

When he got out, I asked what kind of toy cars he had. He held them out for me to see....Two beat up Hot Wheels sized die cast cars....A Wyer Gulf 917 and a Rothman's 956.

I said, "He's into Porsches, huh?"

As she drug him off across the parking lot, Mom rolled her eyes and said, "Completely obsessed with 'em. I have no idea where he got it!"

Really cool stories! I bet we've all got similar ones. Truth is...Just a little act of kindness to a kid can last a lifetime. Mine: Probably 60+ years ago, my uncle took me to see the Ringling Bros. Circus one afternoon...in his Auburn Boattail Speedster (like this one)! I can still remember seeing the plaque on the dash that stated it had gone 100 mph at the time of delivery.

That happened to me a couple of times when I was a kid. I was probably 9-10 and I was with my dad and just staring at a Ferrari 348 Challenge car, when the owner told me to hop in. I was in shock and tripped my way over the rollcage to make my way in. I'll remember that forever!
I hope I can 'pay it forward' when I see a kid gawking over my 'new' 993 now.

Good story Steve. Your story almost brought a tear to my eye TMc993. My son, 14 months, wants to go to the garage all the time. He says ...sche ...sche. His driving style isn't very smooth yet and the shift is a bit of a reach.
