Default 993 engine swap

After 10 years of ownership and subtle mods, I crashed my track day 993, European non-varioram engine, but can salvage engine and gearbox, which were a joy (305 hp - lowered heads, polished intakes, RS camshaft, large throttle body, etc)...

I own a 993 C2 varioram, US spec engine (OBDII). Would appreciate advise with regards to potential wire loom /electronic issues I may face when installing the European engine into this US spec car.

Many thanks
Vartan

It should be doable but you will want to t/p the RoW 55pin harness and DME that goes w/ the RoW engine.

Parev, I am sorry I do not understand, if I follow the phrases you wrote,
you have a non-VRAM ROW engine that broke...in a US car?
you have a Varioram US spec car (or engine?) , you would want advice to install ROW engine in US car ?
If you have a ROW car, with a US engine, plug and start, after removing what you can remove of SAI pump, etc
If you have a US car non vram, with ROW engine, plug and start
If you have a US VRAM car with ROW engine, you need a DME as BILL said and harness from DME to engine, the engine harness does not change
regards

As i understand it, he wants to put a RoW 55pin 993 engine in a US 88pin chassis. Which requires that the harness and DME accompany the engine.

Not including turbos or GT2, All 993, US '95 and all RoW '94-98 are 55 pin OBD1 compliant and it's a fairly straightforward swap, it's of course easier if the '95 recall was done where they place a harness that has all the connections for vram and non-vram and SAI, you just use the connections that you need on these swaps. To convert a US chassis to a RoW engine just requires a couple of changes in wiring. If a change from vram to non v-ram or vice versa is part of the program a new chip is also needed unless the DME w/ chip inside is also t/p'd

The issue is the US OBD2, 88pin DME and harness that was used on all turbos and US '96-98 993s, to swap those the harness and DME need to stay w/ the engine
