Now the fun part....
In order to get the large nut to where it needs to be, I did the following...
--Take a very thick coat hanger, about 18 inches long and bend it to form the shape of the front fender. You are going to be inserting it from inside the wheel well to the location of the hole.
--I first got the bend in the wire correct by trial and error. The wire is fished up to the now open squirter hole from inside the fender well, above the oil cooler or AC unit depending on which side you are working on. You will know the wire/rod is correct when you see it through the squirter hole.
--Next, using electrical tape, I taped the large nut to the end of the perfectly bent wire. Being careful to use enough tape to hold the nut steady but not so much that the wire cannot be pulled out when it is all connected.
--After fishing the nut in along the fender to the right spot, you will see the nut. I used a screwdriver to center it just where I wanted and slowly and gently hand screw in the plug with the washer on it(more on that later)
--You will be able to get it fairly tight if you push and turn with your fingers and hold the wire in the other hand.
--When it is centered and you are happy with placement and tightness, you can then pull hard on the wire ripping the tape off and leaving the nut. In both cases, the tape came off on my wire so I was happy about that!
Side done. Have a beer!
--For the washer I mentioned, I cut a small piece of 3M wrap in the shape of a doughnut. This slips over the threads of the plug and creates a bit of a seal for the plug. I cut the 3M material using sockets and a hammer (my sockets have one fairly sharp side). Perfect circles every time. Not too big along the outer edge, though, or you will see it and not be happy-trust me.
I think that explains my method pretty well. I will post some pics in the next post if I can figure that out?
