Default OBC availability question

It's been my understanding that On Board Computer (OBC) was available on Tiptronic cars, S cars and Turbos as standard. Was it offered as standard or optional on regular C2s?

My first 95 993 C2 is was an option.

On my current 95 993 C2, it was an optional add on as well from the factory. $422 to be exact.

BTW, side note, my top is Classic Grey as is the interior. Just confirmed on the original sticker.

Optional on all normally aspirated WB and NB cars with manual transmissions. Standard on turbos and tips.

Cheers,
Joe

I want to install one on my 1997 C2,
I have the OBC Tacho, but need the OBC Control switch/stalk.
Any ideas, on where to get a second hand OBC control switch/stalk?

Neil, I would look at the switch combo from a dismantler like Oklahoma Foreign or similar.

I'd also look at ebay. The only problem is that most sellers wouldn't know if it came from OBC car.

If I understand correctly you will also need the temp sensor and a few connectors (which, I believe, are BMW parts). Robin has detailed DIY at p-car.com with all parts needed.

Hi Mike,
Yes, I have seen Robin's DYI some time ago, which is what got me thinking about the mod.
I was just waiting for an OBC tacho at the right price, which I purchased this week.

The temp sensor and plastic bit for the steering column, no issue and some of the plugs and sockets I can purchase new or secondhand with little cost,
it is just the OBC switch/stalk and if I can get a secondhand unit all will ge good.

Do you have any information on the BMW connectors, as there are plenty of BMW dismantlers in Australia.

Thanks,

If I'm not mistaken this part is from BMW E30: http://p-car.com/diy/obc/Jul07_03.JPG and I think it's also shown here: http://p-car.com/diy/obc/Jul07_03.JPG If you have BMW dismantlers have a look at E30s, you should find these.
