I haven't registered yet, but I'm going to try to go. I just found out about it last week. Here is the link in case anyone else is interested. Sounds like a great event!

Thanks for posting. I'll probably make the drive down if the weather cooperates. I was afraid to look at the cost but $30 isn't too bad. The 5 laps around the AMS for $20 extra sounds like a cool experience as well. I've never been there but if it is anything like Charlotte, it should be great.

Anyone have any personal 'inside' info on what this event will be like besides what is on the web site? Have you been to one before? Traffic? Lots of vendors? Can you leave early or are you kinda stuck there until it ends? Easy to register the day of the show or do it in advance? Since it will be a nearly 3 hour drive for us any additional info would be appreciated on what to expect.

This is a brand new event. It is being set up by a guy/group of folks that organize large events to break guinness world records. Thats the only further info I have. I think its going to be a combitnation of PCA Parade/Rennsport Reunion/Hershey Swap Meet.

That's good to hear. We are still going but were just hoping that it wouldn't be 75% Boxsters out of the 1,000+ Porsches they are hoping for. Would like some nice variety.

Yup...can't really figure out what to expect from this event. Agree that it would be nice just to spend a nice day outside looking at some great cars. Nothing wrong with Boxters but I'm hoping to drool a bit. Also looking forward to taking the car on the track as this will be our first time to AMS after moving the ATL.

I think we probably set the record for Porsches in one place (in the US) at Renssport.

Well...At the risk of sounding overly critical....

I'd guess there were about 250-300 cars. Far from the over 2000 that they were looking for. While I appreciate the effort to sponsor this, these folks had to be new to the game. Registration was essentially one person. The whole morning was spent with 300 people trying to get registered. Can't imagine what it would have beeb like with 1,000!.

There was really no organization to it. No one really knew what we were doing at any given time. The laps on AMS track were fun although after waiting all morning for registration to be complete, we drove over to the track and waited in line with our cars for about an hour while the Nascar guys were testing on the track.

Once on the track it was moderately fun but I think they just let everyone on the track rather than jut those who paid....because they were not organized enough to separate the groups. So....we had 300 cars on the track at the same time. It was still worth the $20 for the laps in my view. Was my first time there so just being in on the track was well worth it.

There might have been 10 vendors there. I felt bad for these guys as the turnout was low and a fair number of cars left after the laps. For sale and concours areas were not marked and that was a bit of a mess too.

My wife and I took the Cayman and TT and, all in all, had an enjoyable day. There were some really nice cars there and nice people. Quite a few 912's, a couple of nice 914's, one other '96 Arena Red TT, several race cars, a couple of C4s's and several other 993's. Also quite a few nice caymans, boxters and 996 & 997's

I suspect these guys may not have support for a second try. I might be willing to go again. If you viewed it as a Cars and Coffee (without the coffee) event, it was enjoyable. As the event they marketed, it fell quite a bit short.
