Default SD Area Shock/Springs Rehab Project

It looks like Saturday Nov 5 will be a good day to put Sapphire up on the lift and get going on the new Bilstein HD's/ROW MO33's/Walrod Bushing/Strut Brace installation. Depending on how much motivation I have, I may go for the front and rear in one day or weekend, and I may split it up. We'll see. The days of spending 2 full weekend days crawling around under the car are not as desirable to me now, as work and travel are simply wearing me out at my current level. I'll most likely start at the front, as I have more work there.

I'm at the NE edge of Escondido, and anyone in the area is welcome to come by if they want. No formal assistance request, but I've had a few people express interest in being around to see the suspension work. I'm pretty adept in the Torsion Bar 911 suspension arena, but this will be new to me too, and therefore fun.

Of course I've got HD TV and good sound in the garage, as well as cold beer. If it is hot, we can fire up the garage A/C.

We just have to make sure Kai has room to lie down:

Ed,
I've got some conflicts to resolve to clear out the day, but I'm hoping to make it. I've got to do the same to my car, so yours can be my "learning experience".

Cool

Looks like we're neighbors. We live up on the hill behind O.G.H.S. We are pre-entered in a (toy drive) car show at Bates, with the hot rod on that date though. Best of luck with the project. And as stated above, post pix of your victory. Btw, great looking pooch! Must be pacing it's self.

Sheesh, mayabe 1/2 a mile? Feel free to drop by on the way home, if you have time.

Kai is an old guy, amd does pace himself, but is surprisingly spry and energetic when I am. But, only from 7am-7pm. After that, its night-night time for him.

PS-I'm throwing a set of RSR mufflers on this weekend...

Thumbs up

If you hear something nasty sounding coming......... It's probably us.

The RSR's made a nice difference on my Targa.

I got a little done today.....6 straight weeks of travel, with 2 more to go, has caught up to me, so I'm working at 3/4 speed it seems and only for about 3 or 4 hours before I really started dragging.

But, new shocks/springs up front, and control arms off for new Walrods tomorrw. If the arms & bushings cooperate, I'll get the rear shocks/springs done tomorrow as well.

I cannot believe how much simpler it is changing these shocks and springs compared to doing a torsion bar 911 project. I'm hoping the bushings are easier as well.

glad to see you are making progress.

let me know if the project bleeds over into next weekend.

I went for a nice ride today and ended up at Don Prudhomme's open house.
P cars are good fun, but hearing an 5000HP + nitro burning Keith Black engine puts perfromance (straight line) into an entirely new experience.

It was very very cool seeing his recently completed restoration of Tom the Mongoose McEwens Duster and Flaming Red Hot Wheels transporter sitting next to his HEMI "Cuda and Speed Yellow Hot Wheels transporter.

Got the control arms rebushed today. The second one was debushed in 1/2 the time as the first. Heat is your friend for this project!

I did hammer my index knuckle pretty good, but when I look at the rehabbed control arms, the throbbing subsides.
