Default 4 post lift and SUV

Guys, does anyone here park an SUV under your 993 on a 4 post lift? If so, what brand and model lift do you have? Thanks!

I've just parked cars under my Bendpak HD9. I'm sure you will need a taller version like the HD9XW. You can get them from Babco.ca If you're planning on working on the 993 and you have air make sure and get the sliding bridge jack. Unfortunately its not cheap.

I have a Danmar D-7 4 post lift and 11' ceilings. the garage door track was raised as high as possible. this means my cab should fit, but I haven't tried it.

couple measurement points for you;
at full lift height the parking ramps are almost 74" off the ground.
that leaves 68.75" to drive an SUV under. there is around 92" between posts to drive through.

if your 993 is 52" high and you need 3-5" to raise the lift to clear the stops before lowering, you'll just barely make it with an 11' ceiling.
you'll have to have the garage door rebuilt so the tracks are less than 5" from the ceiling so you can open the garage door with a car on top of the lift. and change to a side mount door opener.

a cayenne fits under the lift but it is tight(exterior mirrors to interior width of lift) and would be a hassle on a daily basis.

Thanks Guys.

Matt, did you have Babco do the install? What are you using for the air supply?

K7, Thanks for the measurements. I have 11 ft clear also and my SUV is 68.2 inches tall...so it appears I would just make it. We have two SUV's so I am trying to get them both in the garage for the winter with the toy on a lift, but it just might be a bit too snug...

I had a friend who owns an old picker truck drop the package inside the garage door. A friend and I set it up using an engine hoist. The air is supplied through a 1/4" poly hose tube from my existing air compressor header. With 11 foot ceilings there is not much clearance with the HD9. 12 foot ceilings would be ideal. I would use Bendpak's measurements with the ramps in the upper position plus 993 height to calculate the overall height. Remember that when lowering a car the lift has to go up to release the locks before it comes down so you need clearance.

Thanks Matt. I double checked everything this morning and it's too tight for my liking. Time to buy a car I guess

Have a closer look at this. Not sure of all your dimensions, but looks like it will *just* clear the SUV height wise too.

Post back if you find something as I am also interested.

Thanks jnicol. I have 11 ft 4 inches less whatever light I put in that bay, so I have about an inch or two at most. I want to have a little wiggle room should I make a mistake so it's just too tight for my liking. Not a big deal really as both of our DD's are SUVs. Trading one in on a car is probably a good thing anyway...and I love the new Audi A7
