Personally I like, clean, but I would rather ride, drive, read, etc. then do it so this looks cool. Did some research and found this:

of course there's no affiliation. Hope is not expensive.

Talked to a guy that rents out machines. $1,000 per week plus you possibly need some other equipment. Still calling around. Is anyone near Cryodetail in Florida?

$1000.00 per week if you get enough people the cost will be fairly low. I'd rather pay a pro that does it all the time. Just like painting I can do it, but the job looks better from a pro. The only thing I saw that concerned me was the exhaust removed. If it needed to be removed for cleaning at least cover the holes.

Drifting
I just got off the phone with Dustin here in SD that has done this before to Porsches.

If I can set up a place with a lift and get a few people together, it looks like this isn't super expensive. $300/hr with 30 min/car for undercarriage cleaning (with panels pre-removed). He'd prefer 4 hours worth, but with several of us, this isn't an issue. Even if each car was 1 hour, $300 would be worth it to save the hours of wheel well cleaning... I know, I'm missing out on that quality bonding time with the car, but I've got limited time right now, so this is a SWEET solution.
PM me if you're in SD and interested.

That is very cool, but I'll keep my headers on
Still, would love to find someone in the NY area who can do this. Definitely makes working on the car easier when it's clean!

Count me in as interested in this process. I would definitely want a pro doing this. Need to regulate the pressure of the dry ice depending on surface ie: near rubber seals. Exhaust on as well for me.

Years ago I met a person who developed this technology for cleaning semiconductor wafers. He would demo it by taking a shiny 9" silicon wafer, rubbing his greasy hands all over it, then blasting it back to perfection. I always wondered about other applications.
As I remember, his basic systems were not that expensive (~$1-2k).

The only way to really do it is to dismantle, clean and rebuild with new parts; here I changed to manual steering as well. I am starting at the front of the car and working to the rear.

Tackleing this project by hand is a test of patience, persistence and is clearly not for the faint of heart. You're in for the long haul, but it's also a "one and doner". And when taken to OCD limits, the residue of your efforts will be profound, revealing the once hidden examples of, as well as a newly gained appreciation for, Deutsche craftsmanship and engineering, which makes these cars so special and unique.

Very nice. I don't think the dry ice blasting will get you there...but will get you 90% of the way which is big for us that don't have the time to commit to a detail like that. Then we can spend our own time on the extra 10%!
