Default P1585 code??? really?

just finished changing the differential, so my car was off for about 9 days - started it up and the check engine light came on - I figured it was the usual SAI problem (P401), but since my rather horrible GPS has the OBD reader accessory, I read out the codes and to my surprise not only was the SAI there but also P300, 304, 305 and 1585. I was NOT out of gas though the red "low fuel" light had just come on - I filled the tank and went for a 45 minute drive to a friend's house and later another 45 minutes or so back - mostly freeway with some slow driving due to traffic - during that drive, I got an alert to cylinder 5 missfire.

So, I'm wondering --- what's the common thread here?something bad around cyl 5? the thing that's throwing me is the 1585 code - and the fact that it hasn't gone away even after a couple of drive cycles with full tank (three so far). I've had this car since 2000 (it's a 97 C2) and it has 140K + miles. Plugs should be good for another 15K, I've changed the plug wires and dist caps.

I'm getting disgusted - I change the clutch and about 4 months later the trans starts to whine (rollers in differential disintegrated), changed the differential and carrier bearings (just now, didn't fix the whine but the diff was toast) and the CEL comes on.

grrr - anyone want a C2 cab? maybe I should give up and go back to my 356.... seriously
