It's race-day, & JoAnnes's personal Komen Race for the Cure webpage remains open. As long as the "Donate to Joanne" link shows, you can still click to donate.
Porsches + boobies ... a no-brainer
Save the ta-tas!

Thank you Jager.
I'm home. My tootsies are fine and my heart is full. There was electricity in the air today. It's amazing feeling. It was like one big family gathering. There were 47,000 registered walkers and runners. Who knows how many were lining the streets. I find this all so unbelievable for a city who's population is about 110,000. Wow.
As promised here's a shot out to y'all. Really THANK YOU ALL. I rec'd another 350.00 today while I was walking. I'm at 2,728.00 and still going. You are THE BEST!!!

Final count for the race: 44,200 walkers. That is 2800 less than last year and a lot less than the projected 47000, but a lot of people walk with out registering just to be there. Plus all the folks who line the streets. I think more than half the city was downtown yesterday. More...
GO GRANNY'S in the TUTU's and the PINK Bra's. Also fun were the Pirates, OMG! They walked by the office and stopped to look in. They were the a bunch of funny funny dudes!!!!

Who Knew.......
Well.... I don't know what to say, but I'll just come out and say it:
Last week I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Talk about a punch in the gut. Thankfully the one I have 'non evasive' and of you are unlucky enough to have drawn the bc card it's the one to get. I've already been to one surgeon and see the reconstructive surgeon this Friday. I know I am going to be fine, but wow. It was the worse day of my life. The weekend was filled with tears and fear of the unknown. After seeing the surgeon yesterday and having her lay everything down on the table, I made my decision and feel some of the burden and fear lifted off of my shoulders.
When I was walking for Boobies, I had no idea I was walking for my own.....
Please tell your wives, girlfriends, SO's, Gal pals what ever, if it has female DNA, estrogen and boobies, tell them to get Mamo's done without fail. I've had to have them regularly since the age of 28 (VERY fibrocystic and dense) I had a mamo last year and it was fine, this year, not so fine, but fine enough to be able to say I am going to be Okay.
Hugs to you all. AND thank you for your support. REALLY THANK YOU.

I just stumbled upon this thread. Even though we don't know one-another, I sincerely wish you all the best. I can't imagine the emotional roller coaster you have been through. Just glad to hear that it was caught early.

Wow! I can't even imagine what went thru-is going thru-your mind! I've only met you the one time in person JoAnne, but I gotta believe you will prevail here, and become an even stronger advocate for this cause.
You have to know you'll be in our hearts and prayers.

Oh My Ed, you have no idea! It was racing for the entire 1.5 weeks from the first Mamo to the needle biopsy to diagnosis. I did not sleep and in a weeks time lost 7 pounds.
I will be fine. I'm going to be a whole new me. Much stronger than I ever was before and I'm ALREADY appreciating life and love so much more, it almost makes me cry tears of happiness.
I have plans for next years race already. Since I raised quite a lot of money (THANK YOU GUYS) I am being given a pink pandora bracelet as a thank you from SGK foundation. Well, I am going to keep it for a year and then give that bracelet to another survivor at the race next year and I am going to tell that survivor to keep it for a year and then pass it on to another and then another and another. That's what you call bonding
Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. We need them. All of us need them.
