The mechanic says the rattle is coming from the outbearing ( not the clutch) but while he's in there might as well replace the clutch. I think he's quoting 21 hrs to cover his time if he's runs into other issues help negotiate the sales price up. He confirmed that he has to drop the engine, maybe since it's a c4? I'm going to call me local shop to double check this.

I'm worried if I don't have him do the work, I may have problems on the 400 mile trip back... Plus I still think there's an opportunity to get some extra things do e included in the negotiated price.

So while he's replacing the clutch assbly, I'll have him check and replace if needed,
-slave cylinder and hose
-flywheel
-Bushings and bearings on the release fork
-transmission input shaft seal

then since it's got 100k miles, have him look and replace if needed
-spark plugs
-engine and valve seals
-engine insulation blanket
-Belts

I'm I missing anything? If I can go ahead and get this stuff out of the way, the hope is to have a trouble free car for the next 100k miles minus minor maintenance.

Have him check the spark plug wires, both distributor caps and distributor belt as well.

OK, I'm still new to 993's, but at 100K, shouldn't SAI stuff and perhaps cam followers be done if the engine comes out?

I would do the rear main seal.
