I purchased an airbag cu (996 618 217 01) to replace my defective 993 unit. The 996 unit is supposed to have superseded the 993 units which are no longer available. The pin connectors are different. My connector will not fit the 996 unit, its smaller. Any ideas?

Another satisfied customer for Porsche, that thing is *amn expensive and it needs to be programmed by a dealer to work for 993 and rewired

No experience with a 95 but 96-98 have the same connector and fit the 996 pn. As Bill said it must be programmed by the dealer.
