Default 996 to 993

thinking of trading my 996 C4S in on a 993 cab. i know there are differing views on victory motorsports in houston, but they sure have lots to choose from. is it a fools paradise or just paradise?

Search here about Victory Motors. Then run away from them as fast as you can.

A 993 is paradise. Buying from Victory is foolish.

I love my cab - as to Victory - buyer beware and get a really thorough PPI from someone of the caliber of Callas outside of Houston... good luck!!

I had a 996 C4s and sold it due to lack of confidence in relative reliability and kept the older 95 cab....glad I did.......better built car all the way.....

Only thing I miss is the all wheel drive in the rain........

get a good ppi from a shop unrelated to victory, and if it passes, its fine.

victory has some good and some bad cars, so just choose carefully.

This.

I bought my car from Victory over five years ago, and it's been super. I did a ppi AND had a friend who lived near Victory to check it out and test drive it.

This. You're closer to them so I suspect if you did your own visual inspection first it would save you the expense of someone else telling you it (might be?) crap.

And just my (remote) observation from reading other's posts after buying from them, I think you could tell what Victory's opinion on the car is by how hard they try to discourage you from using and independent shop for the PPI and how hard he pushes for one of his "independent" shops.

When I called about a car 2 - 3 yrs ago he was really making it difficult for me if I wanted to use Callias for the PPI, so I didn't bother perusing the car further.

Also, from posts from people who have been to the shop don't expect all the cars on his web site to actually be in inventory.....

But, do your own investigating and pls report your findings.

I purchase 2 964's from victory this year, cars have been great and every time I had a question I got the answer... I visit their location once a month just to go see ALL the inventory.

Get a good PPI done from a shop of your own chosing. Bought my 993 from Victory 6 years ago and it has been a great car! My experience with them was good, Robert stepped up to the plate when I had an immobilzer problem the same day as purchase. As with any used car, caveat emptor!

Dude. Search on the internet. Victory has had a huge amount of bad press. Why not just go somewhere that has a good reputation. I give people my trade that either I know, or those that carry a good reputation. If a place has a bad reputation, I don't waste my time.

The guy clearly knows how to market cars. His website is good. Great photos etc. Interesting carpet vacuming patterns....

If you know what you are buying, then perhaps you won't be fooled and not get a lemon, but if thats the case, I suspect you wouldn't be posting.

Yes you can (and should) get a PPI, but who's to say they'll catch everything.....

I say give the place a swerve....

Everybody gets good and bad cars, including Victory. Yes, some of the tactics are dirty (buying service booklets for other cars with stamps and including it with a different car), but I buy cars based on their condition, not stamps in a booklet.

I don't think Robert goes out and buys bad cars on purpose. I think they buy a lot, and as with any used car, they can't all be great.

We are talking about 13 to 16 year old used cars...even the nicest cars for sale will likely have something in need of repair.

Can a $20k 1999 996 be worth less than that in the future?
