Default FS/Trade: 997 GT3 Alcantara Shift **** for 993/996 Shift **** (993 C4S)

Hello,

I have a 997 GT3 Alcantara 6-speed shift **** (from 2008 GT3 with about 2K miles). Excellent condition. Would like to sell or trade for a nice 993/996 shift **** for my 993 C4S.

Asking $175.

PM with any questions or interests. Thanks!

Send it to Classic 9 leather shop! Bob will make you a custom alcantera boot for the **** and it will fit your 993 perfectly...and you will still have the original boot! Just did that with the leather 997/987 **** I had sitting in storage because I replaced it with the same alcantera **** you are selling.

Thanks for the suggestion. I decided to go away from the alcantara as I figured I need to match it with something in my car (brake handle, steering wheel, etc...). It can a slippery slope as I have thinking of getting yellow seatbelts and perhaps my hardbacks painted yellow. Too much projects in my head! Oh, did I mentioned repaint the brake calipers yellow too!

I didn't want to tweak a perfectly good GT3 shift ****.

Thanks again.

I would not recommend Alcantara for anything that comes into frequent contact with human skin. Over time, oil and dirt will sully the look. There's a reason leather is usually used; it holds up much better over time.

You might be right. I think they are originally used with driving gloves (ie. in race cars/driving events). Alcantara on alcantara contact probably more tactier than the standard smooth leather on smooth leather.

I have heard this, but have never experienced it. Whether it was on the seats in my S4 or items I touch in any car. Actually, I found that my alcantera seats wore better than the same seats in leather.

Yeah, the auto manufacturers use it because, for them, it only needs to look good for 3 years/36K miles. Alcantara just won't wear as long, or as well, as leather.

I am using the **** in my Cayman as an experiment on this...have had it in for about 20K miles, so I will see when it starts to break down. The leather **** in my 993 looked pretty worn at 57k miles...just took it out and put in a 997 **** with new leather boot.
