Are all bets off now?
Probably not. I've had work done numerous times by PDR guys and as observed the good ones can do almost anything. It may not be 100% perfect but it will be so close you'll never know. Do a little research and find the right guy and have him take a look. A good one will know immediately what can be done.

By the way, I found my guy through a conversation with the local high end exotic car dealer. They use PDR guys all the time and if you're nice the dealer (or service guy) will sometimes give you the contact info so you can deal direct.

Related question: Are 'fresh' dents easier to fix than old ones? I have a few blemishes that are a few years old that require attention.

I've heard different stories on this where some claim metal has a memory and can more easily be popped back if you do it soon after you got the dent. While there may be some truth to that I've had multiple, years old dents removed in both steel and aluminum without any problems. I've also never had a PDR guy ask me how old the dent is so I'd assume there is little if any difference.

I've had countless dents, both old and new, popped out by PDR guys.
