Is 993 Speedster Tip exist?
I just wondering if there is any 993 speedster Tip ever produced? If not, what do I need to convert a cab to speedster and how much it cost for parts?

Terence-- A 993 Speedster with Tiptronic transmission was produced by Porsche for family member F.A. Butzi Porsche.
From the "Rennlist/ PCA member's 993 SPEEDSTER" thread: |

it sure as hell won't be cheap. You can easily spend $10K+ on the Speedster-specific parts alone.

Al-- Hopefully helpful: Graham's post addressing costs on page 8. More discussion, diagrams, (& motivating photos ) on the "Speedster type 993 photo thread." For reference: - Post #41 totals up the new Strosek-style parts that Extreme Motorcars advertises for ~$15k USD. - Post #117 starts with that list, but prices new OEM Porsche factory parts: >$30k USD. In general, the above estimates are just for new basic/required parts for a narrow-body Speedster from a 993 cab. Neither includes fabrication & labor costs, wide-body parts, OEM Speedster seats, etc. |
Ah Speedster - looks like you are also becoming a speedsterholic Terence.
Last year I was looking for a project car in Hong Kong to do a speedster conversion. But for reason instead of the 993 look I prefer the 964 look - the bug eyes have been growing on me. This is currently in the wish list. There seems to be plenty of wide body 964's available in HK. http://www.flickr.com/photos/hit8993...in/photostream |

The zero risk solution is to buy everything new from Porsche. New fabrication panels are required and we also recommend that you source brand new door shells to go with them which would allow us to fabricate the bodyshell in one hit. The cost of the panels from Porsche is approximately £7k (11,000USD) at todays UK list price. The rest of the Speedster specific parts (hood, clamshell, mechanisms, seals, screen, windows, etc) currently cost £17k ($27k) from Porsche You can source used (as JP did) but the downside with this approach is that most if not all parts come from damaged cars and we only find the extent of the wear, tear & damage when they are fitted; hence the hidden cost to buying used is the labour cost to rectify damage. For reference, the 9m93 Speedster S has the addition of the turbo look wide body; the required Turbo rear quarters, sills, bumpers & hardware costs another £7.5k. Obviously all prices exclude taxes & duties. |

Consider UK's 9Meister to convert a cab to Speedster. Is it time to have a "9Meister Forum" yet? :roflmao: Paging Colin & Graham to aisle number nine! :corn: Already ahead of you Jager..... |
