Default Steering rack source in Colorado?

Time has come to rebuild/replace the steering rack in my '97 C2, it's dripping from both ends, not a lot but enough.

I remember seeing a post a few months ago from some folks that have had good luck with rebuilt racks from a source in Colorado (?). I've done a search but can't find the thread.

Anyone have suggestions for rebuilt steering rack? She scheduled for alignment end of next week, I'd like to get it done before I take her in.

TIA

A number of threads have sources listed out of state that people seem to be happy with.

Call Carquip in Boulder...if they do not do this they would know a source in Colorado if it exists. You might PM Boulderbobo also and see if he knows.

If you are not doing the install yourself you might also call Prestige Porsche and check their prices...they are very comparable to the indies usually and 98 and older Porsches get 15% off labor and 10% off parts.

no affiliation with any of the above...other than a few beers with boulderbobo

Carquip is more vintage oriented. They don't have a lot of knowledge or parts past the 3.2l Carrera. There's a bit of 964 stuff, and never once in the 6 years that I worked there did we purchase or part out a 993. We definitely were not rebuilding racks in house.

I don't know of anyone specifically in Colorado that rebuilds them. Though I think there may be someone with a small ad in the back of Pano offering the service. It's also the kind of thing Vertex might do, though people have mixed opinions on them as a business. I have no opinion and just put it out there as a possible option to explore.

+1 with carsteering.com earlier this year. They send you a re-manufactured one and you send back yours in the same box with a pre paid label. Could not have been easier. Net cost was $450.

Yes, I wound up going with those guys (they're out of San Diego) so I had them ship 2nd day for $35 extra. BTW, the price is now $475 + $400 core charge not counting the upgraded shipping.
