Default POST Purchase Inspection

Last month I picked up my '97 C4S
( 32,000 1 owner, dealer serviced, all records, 30 day 3k warranty )

Early this morning I had it inspected by my local Porsche dealer from top to bottom, the Tech was very excited to see my 993.

Generally the report came back with flying colors, they did find a few minor items that I'll have fixed during a separate service appointment.
Seep on trans selector shaft, Seep on front diff and a faulty resistor on the A/C condenser fan.
I'm not sure the repair bill for these items is worth taking back to the selling dealer 2-1/2 hours away......... or even if this minor seepage would be covered.

I have a list of a few mods that i am considering, comments welcome

M030 ROW suspension to lower the car 30mm
VS. Bilstein PSS10

Motorsound Pkg VS Fisters Stage II exhaust , love love it

I like to keep my mods as low key as possible to keep the stock look.

"Seepage" is a factory installed feature of all air/oil cooled Porsche's. The resistor issue is common and can be done DIY in about 2 hours. The replacement one is (was) about $50. Congrats on the new (to you) car. I have the M030 with Bilstein HD and love it. The Motorsound Pkg is not worth the cost - go Fisters!

AC Resistor $62.50: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/...0Each%20%20%20 ...and yes a DIY you can do. As far as the rest, I would take advantage of the warranty, if applicable, before it runs out. Nice choice of mods!

Selector shaft seal is an easy fix. Seal is $15.

suspension will depend a bit on what your intended purpose is, and what YOU like. both are recommended, just for slightly different overall objectives.

Motor sound vs FD III, also a bit of personal preference, mostly in terms of volume. FD IIIs will be louder than MS. but not as loud as Supercups.

FD IIIs have superb workmanship and highly recommended.

usual recommendation for both is to sample before you buy.
I am sure there are RLers nearby with both that can let you sample.

I have the ROW M030/HD set up on a street driven car, mostly highways and smooth roads, and I like it. PSS10 will give you more flexibility, but also cost a bit more.

Congrats, it sounds like a nice car. Just drive it and address things as they come up. Some miles will also give you an idea of what you would like to change in terms of suspension, etc.

All great advice. I have the M030 with Bilstein HDs on my turbo and also had them on my cab. I auto cross the car but no track time. I also would go with the Fisters.

A day of driving the 993 to get the things fixed under warranty is a win win. Enjoy the drive.

You may want to consider KWv3 as another suspension choice.
