Thumbs up DC metro types: Taylor Chapman Opened his own shop

Dear Friends,

I'm pleased to announce that I have opened my own shop, Chapman Auto Werks, as of Monday, August 1, 2011.

As many of you know, I have been looking for a location for some time. Well, I finally I found a great shop, just minutes from the Rt. 28 exit off the Dulles Toll Road. The official Address is: 22854 Bryant Court, #102, Sterling, VA 20166. This new location is in a nice, all-brick complex with plenty of safe parking and room to store more than 15 cars inside at night.

This shop became available very quickly so we are still getting phones, Internet, etc. installed. For now, if you'd like to reach me, please call my cell phone at 571-332-0993.

Andrew Goodnight, a very talented mechanic with whom I have worked for quite a while now, will be joining me at Chapman Auto Werks and I couldn't be more pleased to have him on board.

We'll have an official grand opening party later in September, but we wanted to give everyone a chance to stop in and take a look at the shop. So, we'd like to invite you to an open lift day on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9 am - 1 pm. I hope you can stop in, put your car up on one of our three lifts and take a look around the shop.

Having my own shop has always been a dream to me. I assure you that I will continue to provide the high level of service and attention you've come to rely on. Please visit my website at www.chapmanautowerks.com to see a few early pictures of the shop. As always, feel free to give me a call at 571-332-0993.

Thank you for your business and I hope to see you open lift day on Saturday, August 6, 2011 from 9 am - 1 pm!

-- Taylor

Full disclosure: I'm a big fan of Taylor's work and have been helping him get up and running with some business help, accounting, legal, etc.. and have a small interest in his success.

FYI,
Denise is simply putting the word out that a respected, DC-area Porsche mechanic has opened his own shop.

Denise,
I just had him do an alignment on the Dung Beetle last week and he was excited at the prospect of doing his own thing.

I thought Taylor owned German Auto Group. Did he sell?

Taylor is the best. I wish he were in Phoenix. He was my go-to guy when I lived in NoVA. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Owned by a guy named Sammy.

I got the feeling Taylor couldn't leave there soon enough...

Really? I knew Sami too. He owned the Citgo on Franconia Rd. in Springfield way back. He pulled up next to me in his C2S at a 7-11 once and that's how we met. He used to order maint. parts for me from his WorldPak account. I thought Sami worked for Taylor, but that all went down after I moved away. Taylor was stil at ASG when I left.

Is Taylor well-versed in race car set up such as corner balancing and installing items like race seats, remote reservoir shocks, solid motor mounts, fire suppression systems, window nets, PMO carbs, high performance engine mods, etc.? I sometimes refer people to shops in that area, so it would be nice to know if he's comfortable with track and race stuff.

Not really. He specializes in neon kits, stereo installs, fart cans, and window tint.

I see. So, it sounds like he's also good at fixing mismatched polar silver paint?
