Default Not Again - WTB Rear 17"x9" 993 Cup Wheel

Does anybody have one in good shape?

My second rear wheel in 4 years cracked on my '95; car has 38,000 miles. Just from street driving. At least the one needing replacement is the original, not the newer one.

Where did it crack? I had one crack on the inside along the rim. I had it repaired by wheels america. They welded the inside. They have a store in Elk Grove. They have done beautiful work on my Porsche rims.
The crack is at 12 o'clock

Here's how it looked after it was repaired.

Here are the before and after shots of the rims.

The other repaired rim looks the same. Beautiful.

Funny you mention that. I had it repaired at the same place last summer, and it appears that the repair failed. Your repair looks great; mine looked nice too, although the paint match wasn't that good; they only had one wheel, so weren't matching to one of the good ones.

I'll have to take a pic and post to show what happened. Not sure what kind of guarantee they have - maybe I can work out a deal with them.

I've been trolling ebay for some 5 spokes or 10 spokes, and see single Cup II's pretty regularly.

Thanks, Ed. I saw some individual fronts, but no rears, so I emailed the sellers to find out if they might have rear wheels not yet advertised...we'll see.

I haven't tried it with a tire on it yet. I might put the Blizzaks on this winter and give it a try. You should be able to find the cup wheels since most of the cars started out with that size and new wheels are such a popular mod.

Smile There care several sets on Rennlist now...

Just buy all four (4) wheels...that way you will be all set if another one cracks. Buying one (1) 9" wheel can be difficult....at least it was for me back in the day.

Note, NEVER BUY WHEELS WITH TIRES ON THEM. As we know, tires hide repairs. I found this out the hard way a few year back. One of the 9" wheels went into the scrap bin, unfixable as far as I was concerned with a major weld in it.
