Last Summer, I fell in love with many beers in New England, especially Shipyard's Old Thumper (below). Also enjoyed getting to the Gritty's brewery in Portland, ME and trying Geary's beer at different places. If you're a real beer snob, you already know about the "Rennlist of beer". They say that the Portsmouth Brewery (NH) products are quite good. I made it there too and heartily agree: http://beeradvocate.com/lists/top-us

Here at home, I like most of what they do up at Firestone. Double Barrel Ale has very good retail distribution, which is more than you can say about most high-end beers. There's also great beer culture in Oregon. Just about done with a 12 pack of Deschutes Mirror Pond Pale Ale (Bend) that I found at Rite Aid(!)

When it's hot out, and/or I'm having more than one, I also like Bud, Miller Lite and Modelo.

Many in the know are recognizing San Diego as the emerging capital of craft beer in the US. Beer week is starting to become a pretty big deal. Too bad we can't (shouldn't) organize a weekend tour of our area breweries for the Socal crowd.

Augustiner Edelstoff

Augustiner is a brewery in München, Germany which has been around since 1328.

I had quite a few mugs at the "grill abend" I was invited to by the 993 Club in Germany.

Although a matter of taste, I've tasted many different beers and none is better than Augustiner Edelstoff.

While training at Camp Pendleton I came across this ale in the Officers Club. Those Marines know the good stuff!
