Default Crushed

The other day I crushed my key fob in the back door of my wifes LR, I left them on the bumper. After closing the door I noticed 1/3 of the for sticking out, I knew right then.

The light on the remote work now, but does not disarm or unlock.

The car is a 1997 993 carrera with alarm and immobilizer.

I have seacrhed and read "reprogaming the remote made easy" and many other posts so I am some what ready.

Things I have done:
-Changed the remote battery
-ordered 2 new fob's
-read and reread page 20 in my manual
-located my key card and immobilize code
-called Porsche service to please my Wife.

I do not have a second fob that is programed

All I have managed to do is set off the alarm 10+ time, and open the door with the key.

I think that the Unlock,Lock,Unlock in step one is to disarm the alarm?

What am I doing wrong.

I put the key in turn to unlock, alarm starts, turn to lock, turn to unlock pull handle ,open door , put key in and turn till dash lights come on.
The alarm is still going off, the immobilizer light is flashing with the alarm

I know that i'm just not getting it.

Some one please point out my disfunction.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but the door lock has nothing to do with it. I believe it's the IGNITION lock that you're supposed to be turning. With the car door lock unlocked, use your good fob to lock the car and arm the alarm, then disarm, open the car door, stick the key in the ignition and start the sequence.

My bad...Sorry, I dunno...seems to me that, even with the alarm going off, you're going to have to cycle the key in the ignition in order to enter the code, turn the alarm off, then program your new fobs. If you can't stand the alarm going off, safely jack up the rear of the car (use jackstands for safety), then disconnect the alarm horn which is up near the transmission on, I believe, the driver's side. If you do, you'll need to watch the immobilizer light in the clock cluster to see if you've shut it off.

Many thanks from my neighbors for the alarm advice.

I am still not getting past step one.

When I open the door the alarm goes and does not go off for about 3 mins, then rearms. then goes off....if you do anything like turn key or open the door.

I would just bite the bullet and trailer the car but I live in a remote area.

1. The door lock must be unlocked, locked and unlocked again in 5 sec. The acoustic alarm is then interrupted after 1 second.

2. Open the door within 10 seconds and switch the ignition on. The warning light in the clock will then light up and go out again after 15 seconds.

3. Switch the ignition off and on again within 5 seconds. The warning light will light up and start to flash after 15 seconds.

4. You must start the enter the code number within 5 seconds.

5. Example: code number 1312

1 - ignition off-on
wait for warning light
3 = ignition off-on, off-on, off-on
wait for warning light
1 = ignition off-on
wait for warning light
2 = ignition off-on, off-on

6. If the number is correct, the warning light will flash. This is also the point at which tuning of the remote units can start.

Note:
After the warning light has flashed and the ignition has been switched on again, the engine can be started.

The immobilizer is deactivated and the alarm system and central locking system are unlocked. If the warning light does not flash after the code number has been entered, steps 1-5 must be repeated.
Emergency deactivation does not deactivate the self-priming function of the immobilizer system

Seems to me that you're going to have to either a)Get the car flat-bedded to a dealer or b) Get someone knowledgeable to come out to you and program those fobs. Either way=$$$

open the car up and roll the window down.
Disconect the battery and reconect after a few minutes to reset the alarm.

Start from step one with the key in the ignition standing outside the car.

I bought a couple of the fobs in 04 and they were $97. each. I just got a quote from Sunset for these this week and they now want $153.00 each now! So, don't go throwing your keys around or slamming your door on them!
