Is it possible to adjust the flywheel sensor without dropping the engine? My guess is that it is but will be difficult.

Then, what is the proper way the ensure the 1mm air gap?

When I replaced my clutch I had a hell of a time getting the rubber gasket in place and believe the sensor to be out of range.
