I live in the area where this happened.

the other day on 93.3 wmmr, the disc jokey Pierre Robert, says "Ryan Dunn's Porsche crashed" - almost implying that it crashed on its own, or that's the way I heard it.
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
I felt sick for everyone involved, but the GT3 did not crash itself.
It doesn't matter how formidable a car, or skill level of driver, driving at those speeds on the street can catch up real fast - drunk or not.

Ryan Dunn made his fortune taking idiotic risks. Unfortunately, his common sense gene was altered at birth.

Normally, I would just say "RIP". But he took along a passenger and it could have been many others too.

Did Porsche contribute to the speed? I am sure lawyers make their money arguing both sides of that question.

Any lawyer worth a damn will throw Porsche into the various entities being sued.

Not to mention the estate of the guy who planted those dangerous trees 100 years ago that the faulty car hit, the local municipality for the faulty roadway lighting in the area, the guys who painted the faulty yellow lines on the road, the faulty worded roadway signage along the path...if you think I'm kidding have a look at some of the publically available product liability cases online....and we wonder why manufacturing left the USA.

News now reports he had a blood/alcohol of almost .20 and his speed was between 132 and 140 MPH. Now there is a combination for disaster. May the passenger, Mr. Zachary Hartwell, RIP.

Oh! Add the brewer/distillery and distributor to the list of defendants too! Remember, nothing is EVER our fault--the blame lies with someone else...

PA Dram law: http://palawblog.stark-stark.com/201...dram-shop-law/

passenger estate will go after Dunn estate
the bar will have action taken against them
porsche will most likely too, since "the porsche crashed" - as implied by some, as if the car crashed itself

I think there is a famous law suit from 1979-80 era, where a person killed a coworker/them self in a 930 in cali - and if IIRC, is part of the reason the 930 was not a US car from 81-86.

Not sure the bar will have action taken against them, they apparently have video of him speaking clearly and walking fine coming and going out of the bar.

My friend's law firm does Porsche's (and VW's) litigation in the USA. I'll talk to him in a few days.

That is crazy, dude was drunk.

If you look at the pics, it appears he was trying to get on the off-ramp after realizing he was about to pass the exit-ramp at the last second.... high rate of speed/drinking/music/passenger/showing off....etc... his estate will be in trouble from the passengers family. Hopefully he had very good insurance policy limits....

The bar might have something to worry about as well, hopefully they have very good video of him acting normal and not out of hand.

Porsche should be fine.... Crazy thought

I grew up close to PA, and know all about dark, windy, often wet roads lined with foot-thick+ oaks. Even as a dumb-*** teen I mostly respected that. I could see how you could find yourself doing 80 or so in a GT3 and "not noticing," but 132+ is some willful and deliberate speed.

Remember, gents: judgement goes out the window waay before motor skills. That's the scary part.
