I wouldn't even consider switching - i really just wanted to double check if this was doable. I never meant for this to be a knock on Cheech. he is awesome

Once my (and other) wheels are back from re-covery I might just have a brand new leather/carbon fiber 3-spoke 996 wheel with leather airbag and a matching leather/carbon fiber shift knob. By brand new I mean just that, never installed in a car, no blemishes at all.

Depending on how I like the re-covered wheel, this combo and/or the stock 3-spoke and/or the recovered 3-spoke will be available for sale.

Thanks nile - I am not in love with the 3 spoke design so much. I know it is weird but I kind of like the way the 4 spoke looks. I also recently ordered the steering wheel repair kit from leatherique and have found it to work unbelievably. It is really possible to restore the wheel to almost new condition with out recovering it. The kit comes with prep solution and dye and works wonders for around $30. My issue is that my 4 spoke on my car has the stitching coming apart from the rev owner picking at it on the 1 o'clock position. long story short, if you don't have a stitching issue, the letherique product works better then the recovering I have seen. The recovered wheels I looked at just didn't have the right taughtness to the leather or the stitching the way the factory does it.

I would think that stitching would be fairly easy to fix with a bent needle and proper thread. Or have an upholstery shop do it?
