Default Dash blank/cover beside headlight switch?

I am searching for the black, rectangular blank/cover in the lower dashboard beside the headlight switch (pic below). Porsche told me that this part is only available as part of the complete dash assembly?!?!?

Does anyone have a spare cover they will part with or know where I can buy one? I think it is the same part for a 964 and a 993.

Thanks

Might be easier to install a factory switch to fill the space.

Not a bad idea

What factory switches are available in that shape?

You have some extra switches that I don't recognize... the two above your ignition switch? The wiper switch on the dash (my rear wiper switch is in the center console)? The round thing with the small holes above your steering wheel? Just curious.

Hazard switch would fit perfectly in there. Paint it black and then get a sign shop to make a fan logo or some such. Putting "Eject" on it might be kinda cool.

If hazard switch fits in there than a blank for center console should also fit. Cabrios have one blank and 5 actual switches in the console (ha, us cabrio people have more fuzzy knowledge than coupe owners ).

That is not a switch cover plate. It has the shape of it molded in, but you have to cut it out if you wish to use it, then place a switch in it.

I can try and take a picture of it if you wish. If you look at the one between the fog lamp switch and lighter, it's the same deal but round.

That's where 964's have the optional headlight adjust switch fitted.

It's the headlight beam height adjustment thingy. I don't think the litronics have that button. At least I don't. I think this opening is much bigger than one of the blank buttons on the centre console..

Oh well, my 993 also has the beam height adjustment wheel there!
But it is a non-US version.

I believe euro laws require cars with HID headlights to have leveling devices (as well as washers). Not 100% sure how the Porsche system works but the few that I'm familar with are a vacuum system which would be a PITA to install. The dash on US cars comes with two blanks moulded in - the switch for the leveling (as above) and the spot for the rear fog light (above the radio) when these are cut out AFAIK there is no plug to fill the space. You can either buy the switch which should fill it perfectly (but won't do anything unless you install the rest of the system) or cobble up some alternative cover. By the way that's where I have the switch for the remote radar detector on my car....just a thought if you're looking for something to put there.

When you look it up in the PET, it looks as though there are a couple of different switches that can go there and there's something called a "wiper frame" which appears to be a bezel of some kind to allow a smaller switch to fit in that large space (part no. 911 613 635 20), then it looks like a regular window switch (pn 964 613 621 00) will fit in the resulting space. Heck you can use the space as a "holder" for a spare window switch 'cause they break... or you can make it functional and find a creative use for it.

Actually, it might be possible to put a coin holder from another German car in there. Would not surprise me if hole size is a part of some european standard.
